The Iranian diplomat, who began his mission in Vienna in June 2020, made the comment in an interview with Austria’s leading magazine for diplomacy, Cercle Diplomatique.
He said that Iran and Austria established their diplomatic ties 164 years ago when they signed a friendship agreement.
15 years after signing that agreement, the Austrian embassy was opened in Tehran, which was later followed by the opening of the Iranian embassy in the Austrian capital, Ardakani added.
He said that over the past decades, the two sides have kept their ties firm and have always been seeking to further expand their relations.
The Iranian ambassador also announced his country’s readiness to deepen economic cooperation with Austria.
